There are so many things to consider when viewing a property and often the most important questions are forgotten.
Ensure you ask the relevant questions by taking our handy viewing checklist with you on your viewing.
Things to think about would be…
What is the asking price?
How quickly would the owners like to move?
How long has the property been marketed?
Is there allocated parking?
If there isn’t, is it easy to park?
Does it have a private or shared garden?
Is the property lease or freehold & what are the fees? (Relevant for buyers only)
What aspect is the garden? (Take a compass with you)
Does the property have central heating?
Are transport links good?
Is the area noisy?
Where are the nearest shops?
Is the property tied up in a chain? (Relevant for buyers only)
Has any building work been done on the property since the owners moved in?
Think about how you could use each room. Will your furniture fit in?
Take measurements of your favourite pieces of furniture before going on viewings to ensure that they will fit your new home.
Look behind furniture and curtains for signs of damp.
Ask how much interest / viewings the property has had so far.
